It is Altered Artifacts and it is owned by Inka Heaton. She has great artwork and photos of vintage items. Inka also has a blog which you can visit <a href="http://alteredartifacts.blogspot.com/">http://alteredartifacts.blogspot.com/</a>. She has beautiful projects on her blog. She even has free graphics. I was so inspired by her ideas and her graphics that I decided to design a few altered art bottles. These are my summer bottles. I cannot wait to try some Halloween ones with the graphics I just ordered from Altered Artifacts!<br />

What drew me to this company was the theme "Women helping Women". All of their jewelry, accessories and ornaments are handcrafted in the USA by stay at home mothers and low income moms in dire situations. What a wonderful concept! I picked out a few things to put on my website. Each item comes with a little saying and an explanation of the company. Pictured here is the Wish Bracelet. I love snow! It makes you slow down and take another look at the beauty outside, the calm <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">quietness</span> and maybe allows you to get to the jobs you put off because you were too busy. I wanted to share with you a picture of a brave squirrel who appeared on my deck this afternoon in the midst of the snowstorm. Pickings most be very slim for him! When he left he had to skid down the snow laden steps and ran into snowbanks of over 4 feet. I am also sharing a picture of my backyard earlier in the day. Believe me it is worse now! I will be inside for the next couple of days but I am actually looking forward to it! Stay warm!</div></div></div>A Wing and A Bearhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16290223744089543541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7484985674924878285.post-56070492779958964342010-02-03T07:32:00.001-08:002010-02-03T08:11:51.397-08:00New York Gift Show<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih2-kqi7c3mH7x0lQvEIzfAd02HYe20dfsYdVtOKmAXfJEDl_JL3yMfrTqv4kMZN5a_JyhyUmdZ3DmPqfP0NpjcOkwCjzZ2_SyFiJYVuWUGHU8SdBxVLNU0sblEl7cp1wU_mGB8OrLvL0/s1600-h/5%5B1%5D.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 176px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5434050298374430818" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEih2-kqi7c3mH7x0lQvEIzfAd02HYe20dfsYdVtOKmAXfJEDl_JL3yMfrTqv4kMZN5a_JyhyUmdZ3DmPqfP0NpjcOkwCjzZ2_SyFiJYVuWUGHU8SdBxVLNU0sblEl7cp1wU_mGB8OrLvL0/s320/5%5B1%5D.jpg" /></a><br /><div>I just returned from the New York Gift Show. This is the first time in a long time that I am excited about the products that I found at the show. I was on a mission to find special products that were different, touching and made in the USA. One of my favorite finds was the handcrafted bubble wands by a company named At-Choo. When I entered the booth I was truly touched by the stories that accompanied each handmade piece. I wanted to buy everything! I kept thinking about the bubble wands the whole time I was at the show. It was the last item I ordered in NY and I cannot wait to receive them and put them on my website (<a href="http://www.awingandabear.com/">http://www.awingandabear.com/</a>). If you have a chance, please check out the at-choo website <a href="http://www.at-choo.com/">http://www.at-choo.com/</a>!</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>I also signed up for a custom order signs and frame program from Danielson studios. You will be able to customize signs or frames with any personalization you want (including your favorite quote) and the finished product will ship within 48 hours. The designs are beautiful! They make great gifts for weddings, baby showers or special occasions. The link will be on my website in a few weeks.</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>I purchased more Dragonfly and Butterfly Earrings and Necklaces from Anne Koplik Designs. I have been buying from Anne Koplik for quite some time. The colors are beautiful this time. Anne Koplik does jewelry for Dancing with the Stars and some of the awards shows. </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>I placed another order with Kimono Kool. They make jewelry, hair items and other cool items from vintage kimonos. This time I ordered bracelets, hair clips and shoelaces. The shoelaces are so much fun! The colors are great.</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Some of the other great products I came across are bracelets and necklaces from Findings. They are all handmade and made of vintage items like old jewelry, game pieces, etc. Each one is different.</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Hopefully, if all goes well, I will have them on my website within a month. </div>A Wing and A Bearhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16290223744089543541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7484985674924878285.post-42214484548934011682010-01-18T10:10:00.000-08:002010-01-18T10:24:22.038-08:00Putting Christmas on hold for 10 months<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSQfNUsdtin9fXPuuHDwcBShq-q3ZPcz7f_Sr6QBt3PkIhSV4FbVU9Hdz6rE2lHG4E3IxTV1jlp4CjmVE8Xwk0hCdm6tDUVEOmxz-oser4SScgzlgmJg8pjPJ1PxtRs_AkW4WYKHvumko/s1600-h/P1030346.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5428147193055196034" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSQfNUsdtin9fXPuuHDwcBShq-q3ZPcz7f_Sr6QBt3PkIhSV4FbVU9Hdz6rE2lHG4E3IxTV1jlp4CjmVE8Xwk0hCdm6tDUVEOmxz-oser4SScgzlgmJg8pjPJ1PxtRs_AkW4WYKHvumko/s320/P1030346.JPG" /></a><br /><div>This year I found that putting the Christmas decorations away was harder than ever before! I have one grouping left of Santas and a mantel of snowmen left. I find putting them away depressing. Christmas memories of family and friends are packed away also. Will it be the same next year? I know the answer is probably not. Every year I say the decorations will go up earlier so we have more time to enjoy them, but it never happens. It has been awhile since I have updated my blog - I hope to change that this year! The year started off badly - my little dog was diagnosed with Megaesphagus which means her esphagus is enlarged (forming a pocket) and the food cannot go down her throat so she regurgitates all of it back up. It is life threatening because particles of food and acid can back into her lungs causing aspiration pneumonia. The only treatment for it is for me to feed her several small meals a day holding up upright for the eating part as well as holding her upright for 20-30 minutes afterward. Luckily for me she is a small dog (9 pounds) which makes the holding part much easier! She is an energetic and happy dog so putting her down was not an option for me. Hopefully she will continue to live a happy and healthy life. When she was diagnosed the vet said one to one and a half years. The feeding and holding part is very time consuming and does not leave much time for my business. Hopefully I will get in a routine and find more time to devote to my website and retail business.A Wing and A Bearhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16290223744089543541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7484985674924878285.post-56849316409364658382009-10-19T09:42:00.000-07:002009-10-19T09:58:05.280-07:00Phillies FeverWhat would make a over 50 mom of 2 scream, jump up and down and wave a rally towel in freezing cold weather (while standing for 4 hours)? Anyone who knows me would bet the bank that it would not be me! Well, last night, it was me! An opportunity came up for me to go the NCLS playoff game between the LA Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies. The opportunity was for standing room only tickets. Since I love baseball and the Phillies I decided to brave the cold temperatures and go to the game. I had such a great time! I sure that I embarassed my daughter when for some stange reason I could not stop waving the rally towel or screaming (and I did not have an adult beverage so I cannot blame it on that). Somehow, when 99% of the crowd is doing it at the same time it seems okay. There was a lot to scream about (home runs, triples, stolen bases and great catches). The Phillies won 11-0. I was still frozen when I got home last night. I went to sleep around 1 pm. I hope that another opportunity arrives so that I can go again!A Wing and A Bearhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16290223744089543541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7484985674924878285.post-33950246458425601892009-09-19T10:23:00.000-07:002009-09-19T10:33:42.985-07:00A Day OffThings have been very stressful lately and I have an overloaded schedule BUT last Tuesday I looked at the weather forecast at 7 am. It said that it was going to be a sunny day topping out at 80 degrees. I thought and thought about dropping everything (even though I knew there would be a price to pay!) and going down to the beach for one more day before the fall weather would make it difficult. I put on my swimsuit, packed my lunch, grabbed a towel, my beach chair and some magazines and went for it!<br />One hour later I was sitting by the ocean edge watching the ocean on a beautiful sunny day. The only depressing thing was the beach patrol was in the process of taking the life guard stands and boats off the beach for the season. I watched while they were packing them up and remembered the other days I drove down for a day to escape the stress of my life. <br />I don't know whether it was my imagination or not but everything this day seemed more beautiful than before. I am so glad that I took the time off because at least I had a few hours of peace and tranquility. My schedule is crazier than ever (especially with the day off) but it was well worth it!A Wing and A Bearhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16290223744089543541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7484985674924878285.post-14036073277408955092009-08-04T09:59:00.000-07:002009-08-04T10:10:41.314-07:00Make a Wish!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY7UNramP3HLfHhgrFoZ3SxngUOLafGS9RSxKQx37ozVazN8WcZI_acqZ8mAh-gJqiJLQG9p-NWrzdKND-KzndzxDHaQ_9kcAvMcyTIxPr8KrnDaAVRasmNSyIiVVfuPD04A4fRoGLYfQ/s1600-h/wish+tickets+combo.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366157175226701954" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgY7UNramP3HLfHhgrFoZ3SxngUOLafGS9RSxKQx37ozVazN8WcZI_acqZ8mAh-gJqiJLQG9p-NWrzdKND-KzndzxDHaQ_9kcAvMcyTIxPr8KrnDaAVRasmNSyIiVVfuPD04A4fRoGLYfQ/s320/wish+tickets+combo.jpg" /></a><br /><div>One of the top selling items on my website is the Wish Ticket rolls from FG & Company. They come in pink, blue or antique white. They are rolls of 100 tickets tied with a silk ribbon with a tag that says, "If I had 100 wishes I would give them all to you!" The reason I am blogging about them is because my customers have so many unique ways to use them that I decided to share them with you! </div><br /><div></div><br /><div>The reason many rolls are ordered is for weddings. They have been used for favors, table decorations and dollar dances. My favorite Wedding use is entrance to the Photo Booth. A bride rented a photo booth and gave each guest one wish ticket to go inside the booth and have fun with their pictures! I would have loved to have seen some of those!</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>Some customers have inspired me with their stories! A realtor in Arizona shares them with Cancer patients. It started out with traffic jams left and right which turned a usual 40 minute trip into and hour and one half with a doctor's appointment in jeopardy. I forgot my sunglasses and the glare was killing my eyes. To top it off the small road that we use to get to the doctor's office was blocked off. We are not familiar with the area and there was not a detour. In addition, the coffee I had for breakfast was working overtime on my bladder. After several wrong turns and turn arounds we luckily found our way to the office complex. I ran to the ladies room almost knocking down a poor woman. After the appointment we had some time to kill before the next appointment so we decided to go to a consignment store that I had been to before in a nearby town. When we got to the front door we noticed that the store looked dark and the door was locked. We checked to see if there was a closed sign but there was not. My daughter says "Look, their is a policeman inside - actually there is two". I pressed my face against the glass and low and behold their are two policemen with evidence kits and gloves dusting for fingerprints and placing items in a bag. What are the odds? We hope that it was a simple break-in and that no one got hurt. We decide to find a place to eat. We drive and drive and cannot settle on a place, but finally we find our way to a Potbelly Sandwich chain. It is in a strip of stores which all have doorways to get in. The Potbelly has no door, but a sign saying to take the underground exit. We tried and tried but could not find the way in. When we were just about to give up, we found someone who could direct us around, under and around to get to the door. By the time we got through the ordering process and sent to the "Toppings" girl, I had just about had it. The toppings girl asks my daughter and me (with the most cheerful voice imaginable), "How are you ladies enjoying your day so far?" At first I thought, "Is this a joke?". Then I realized that it really wasn't as bad as it could have been. It took the toppings girl at Potbelly to put things into perspective. My daughter and I enjoyed our sandwiches and the rest of the day went just fine. We do have a lot to be thankful for!A Wing and A Bearhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16290223744089543541noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7484985674924878285.post-80318094048950893982009-07-22T14:22:00.000-07:002009-07-23T08:51:58.555-07:00Soldier's Angels - Blankets of Hope<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK7xUtFu2ZK8koJVRAyJLQskRq_Y2uVlFWY-Nsz1tRuiniU2o10Ia7vj0R8fPD2YqUe_kw5t0Lv0VboV_5YEDdWxjE61yypbPf-FZ98L-HoEnRP_kxcT9K1zv6DBeWtFiW8vTO0-B3-1k/s1600-h/P1020959.JPG"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5361400236133249090" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK7xUtFu2ZK8koJVRAyJLQskRq_Y2uVlFWY-Nsz1tRuiniU2o10Ia7vj0R8fPD2YqUe_kw5t0Lv0VboV_5YEDdWxjE61yypbPf-FZ98L-HoEnRP_kxcT9K1zv6DBeWtFiW8vTO0-B3-1k/s320/P1020959.JPG" style="display: block; height: 240px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 320px;" /></a> My daughter's white with patriotic curled edge border afghan</div><br />

<br />
<div>At a Spring show I noticed a friend of mine crocheted a beautiful blanket. I asked her about it and she told me she was crocheting blankets for soldiers in Military Hospitals. I knew that my daughter was learning to crochet and she would be interested in a project like this. Mary completed her afghan in the Spring but inspired me to get started on one. I just completed my first afghan - a red, white and blue striped one. We will be sending them off in the next few weeks. Hopefully these will brighten the spirit of two of our heroes! I am already planning my next afghan. I hope to pick up some camouflage yarn and mix in some other colors. I cannot wait to get started on the next one!<br />

If you are interested in learning about how you can make a blanket I have the guidelines for the blankets (sizes, etc., and where to mail them) and would be glad to email them to you. They can be made of fleece, crocheted or knitted. </div></div>A Wing and A Bearhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16290223744089543541noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7484985674924878285.post-17477224020679376032009-07-08T15:43:00.001-07:002009-07-22T14:40:42.429-07:00WelcomeI am so happy to begin the world of blogging!
